Emotions, Data and AI: A New Era for Emotional Analysis in Video Games

Artificial intelligence has revolutionized multiple sectors by combining massive data analysis with machine learning, enabling the prediction of behaviors and the optimization of processes across all types of industries. However, we are now entering a new phase: that of Emotional Artificial Intelligence (EAI), a technology that seeks to equip machines with the ability to recognize, interpret, and respond to human emotions, thereby enhancing the interaction between people and intelligent systems.

But what happens when we try to apply this technology to the world of video games? The challenge is considerable. The language used by video game users in digital environments is highly contextual, prone to constant change and the creation of new terms, to the use of foreign words, acronyms, the inclusion of iconographic and visual elements, as well as unique jargon and references only interpretable within the community itself. These particularities make it difficult for existing sentiment analysis models—valid in other sectors—to be applied directly in this context. Added to this is the lack of specific research, particularly in the Spanish-speaking environment and, more specifically, in the Spanish context.

Nevertheless, the potential of this approach is undeniable. Video games not only generate billions in revenue worldwide, but also have an increasingly profound social and cultural impact. Indicative of this growth is the forecast that, by 2025, the global video game market will reach 220 billion dollars, representing a significant increase compared to the 180 billion dollars generated in 2023. Moreover, digital platforms dedicated to creating, sharing, and commenting on video game-related content, such as Twitch, accumulated more than 13 million hours of content consumed by followers at the national level.

In this ever-growing landscape, our web application emerges: a pioneering tool that not only integrates emotional artificial intelligence models adapted to gamer language, but also makes it possible to visualize results in a clear, interactive, and accessible way for diverse profiles such as developers, researchers, content creators, and brands. This platform not only represents a technological breakthrough but also lays the foundation for a new professional standard to measure and understand emotional impact in the gaming universe.

Because understanding what we feel when playing, watching, or creating video games is not just interesting: it is the next big step in the evolution of gaming.
